Ready-Made Toons

Frigida “Fridge” Steel

The Bruiser, “The Tough One” The Imperturbable Professional

Cold, Solid, Unmovable

“One collapse at a time, please.” Fridge

Overview

Frigida “Fridge” Steel is the kind of toon the Prop Department quietly builds the rest of the studio around. Where others bend, she holds; where others shatter, she endures.

A walking industrial refrigerator with reinforced steel plating and a presence like a brick wall, Fridge is equal parts enforcer, technician, and last line of defense. When a lighting rig tears loose over the set, she is the one who catches it, checks the bolts, and hangs it back where it belongs.

The Bruiser, “The Tough One”

  • When a Gag Token is spent to return her from Wiped Out, she returns at half maximum Elasticity instead of 1

Shtick

The Imperturbable Professional

In-Shtick Play:

  • Treating absurd situations as routine work
  • Applying practical solutions to chaotic problems

Bit Repertoire

Lock It Down

Activation: Action · Limit: once per scene Fridge stabilizes the immediate area. Until the next major beat, environmental chaos cannot escalate beyond its current level. Moving objects slow and hazards pause.

Cold Storage

Activation: Maneuver · Limit: once per scene Fridge opens her doors and stores an object, effect, or small character temporarily inside. The stored element is removed from play until the end of the round, reappearing intact.

Take the Hit

Activation: Quick Action (triggered) · Limit: once per round When an ally would take damage, Fridge may absorb it instead. Reduce the damage by 2, then apply the remainder to herself.

System Reset

Activation: Action · Limit: once per session Fridge forcefully reboots the situation. Remove all minor status effects from allies in the scene. Each affected ally recovers 3 Elasticity or 3 Strain (Fridge chooses separately for each ally). The GM gains +1 Chaos Point.

Want

“Keep everything running.”

The list is short:

  • systems that function
  • people who survive
  • chaos that doesn’t spiral beyond recovery

Bonds (Examples)

  • +1: “You do your job. That’s enough.”
  • -1: “You create problems I have to fix.”
  • +1: “You stay behind me. You’ll be fine.”
  • -1 (Monty): “You are not in charge.”

Personality

  • Direct, efficient, and grounded
  • Speaks only when necessary, and always with purpose
  • Unimpressed by status, fame, or theatrics
  • Values reliability over creativity
  • Keeps a running count of everything currently on fire

Voice

  • Low, steady, controlled tone
  • Minimal inflection, maximum clarity
  • No wasted words
  • Commands attention without raising volume

Catchphrases

  • “Handled.”
  • “Stand behind me.”
  • “That’s not how this works.”
  • “We’re not doing it that way.”

Role in ENDS Studio

Fridge operates as a hybrid between:

  • Prop Department enforcer
  • On-set safety anchor
  • Unofficial problem solver

She is the one called when:

  • a set collapses
  • a gag spirals out of control
  • a production goes sideways

Repairs are logged. Causes are noted. Names are remembered.

Rivalry: Monty Gildersnout

Monty represents:

  • ego
  • spotlight
  • narrative control

Fridge represents:

  • structure
  • reality (cartoon)
  • consequences

The pattern on set rarely changes: Monty redirects a scene toward himself, Fridge declines to let it break, and the take ends with him mid-flourish while she finishes the job behind him.

Visual Gags

  • Doors open mid-fight to release cold mist dramatically
  • Stores absurd objects inside herself with no explanation
  • Takes massive impacts, dents slightly, then keeps going
  • Internal light flickers when irritated
  • Ice buildup appears during intense moments

GM Hooks

  • Fridge is tasked with protecting something that cannot be stabilized
  • Monty manipulates a situation that forces her to break protocol
  • Her internal systems begin malfunctioning under extreme chaos
  • She must rely on others instead of holding everything herself
  • The Prop Department pushes her beyond safe limits

The Central Irony

Incident report, Stage 4, filed by F. Steel: cause identified, fix applied, fix rejected by cartoon physics, fix reapplied. Cartoon chaos is not an engineering problem. She files it as one every week regardless.
